Graduate Guide to the Green Series 2008-2009
This year the Graduate Guide program has been expanded into a series of three events designed to prepare future graduates for the real world through one-on-one interaction with players in the communications industry.
The first event will cover what to expect on the first job from people who’ve been there. Expect a candid discussion with professionals in the industry who are recent graduates having their first experiences at nonprofits, agencies and corporations. Learn everything the professors don’t tell you about entering the workforce.
A tour of Birmingham agencies is slated for the second event, spring 2009. Students will have the opportunity to visit five agencies located in downtown Birmingham. Each has a distinct focus and style. With that, you can get a feel for the various workplace opportunities available in an agency, ask questions about internships, find out what they’re looking for in an employee or intern and drop off resumes directly with firm contacts.
The series will wrap up with a portfolio and resume review, also in the spring. AIGA will have some of the best designers in the marketplace on hand to provide feedback on portfolios. And human resources professionals will be on hand to give feedback about resumes.
Please be on the lookout for event details. For more information, please email student@aafbirmingham.com.
